Althea - on board the Yacht

Yacht Charter in Phuket, Thailand

Althea is a crewed charter boat, a Captain and a cook are on board for your convenience and security. Your leisure time is limited, but then, as she is a powercat you are not dependent on the wind, you can reach your selected destination any time.

• Activities on board :

Althea is equipped to have water sports that will vary depending on equipments. These might include snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, fishing … and can be arranged by the Captain.

On shore activities can be recommended by your crew and will vary depending on the island.

• Food on board :

The menus are designed around the Thai food preferences. The chef is excellent and can usually prepare any requested dishes. If there is any personal dietary requirements, the most important thing is to get in touch with the Captain as soon as possible and communicate your special needs early. With enough warning, most things are possible even here in the islands!
You may either choose to charter the boat with Captain and crew only, provision and prepare your own food and in the evenings, dine ashore at some of the finest restaurants and resorts in the Phuket and surrounding areas. Or you may choose the convenience of a cook/hostess who will introduce and prepare for you, the best local Thai cuisine.
Looking forward fully relaxed holidays? We recommend you to rely on the expertise of a professional cook/hostess and be pampered all day long with a nice full package. Price and menus available on request.

• Drinks on board :

Soft drinks are included in the price, others drinks such as wine, beer and alcohol are not included, it can be arranged by the Captain before boarding.

• Itinerary :

The itinerary is based on your preferences of activities. The Captain knows the territory very well and will custom the cruise to fit your requests. The virgin Islands in the Andaman sea offer a tremendous variety of bays, anchorages and sites to visit. It isn't possible to see everything in one visit, however, and you may need to adjust your itinerary to accommodate your schedule and activities you have chosen or return again in the future for another charter.

• Don’t forget to bring on board :

First, only bring soft sided luggage since space is limited and storage is easier. Also hard luggage can damage woodwork and paint.

Most days you will spend in swimsuits and shorts, though if you plan evenings ashore, slacks or a sundress are appropriate. Several swimsuits are recommended as you will be spending lots of time in the water and want to have one to wear while the other is drying.

Bare feet are generally the rule on board. A large brimmed hat for sun protection is very important along with sunscreen and light cotton cover-ups are a must.

Don’t forget the sun protections such as sunscreen (please don't use oily lotions as it stains the yachts' upholstery), hydrating cream, sunglasses, caps…

To catch on of the best moment in your life and to share your unique experience later with your friends, don’t forget your camera, video camera.

For the communication, on most of the places you will reach, your cell phone can be connected. If you have the GPRS option, you can easily donwload your e-mails on your laptop. In addition we have a IMac computer on board with multimedia center which generally has email access (depending on where we are in the islands!). You can also bring your DVDs and your own music equipments, Ipod, walkman … We welcome you bringing your own music collections to enhance the variety during your cruise. Books can be of use too.

• Historical Weather datas and forecasts in the Andaman sea :

The extremely consistent weather conditions in the Phuket Islands are one of the reasons this area is considered to be one of the best cruising grounds in the world.

• Local customs :

Remember, Thailand is the "Land of Smiles" you are visiting in a different land, with its own culture.

If you find the local islanders try saying "Good Morning" "Good Afternoon" and "Good Evening", you can answer "Sawasdee Kaa" (if you are a woman) "Sawasdee Krap" (if you are a man) or simply by a smile. Try it, you will very likely get a broad smile in return, and may make a new friend. Who knows, you might even start a trend when you get home!

Most of the fisherman villages are muslim, the local islanders generally prefer you to be covered up. T-shirt and shorts are fine but bikini tops are not appropriate in their eyes. Now, on the beach, that's another story!

• Children :

We have no age limit for children. Up to six passengers (12 for day charter) can be accommodated. We do ask however that you realize that the crew are not babysitters, and you are responsible for taking care of them on the yacht.

• Smoking :

Smoking is considered a fire hazard on many yachts. On Promenade, for safety, we simply ask that you smoke only when topside, on the aft deck and never below decks.
